How we create recipes you can trust
Our Mission
Pakistani Recipes exists to preserve and share authentic regional Pakistani cuisine in a format that's accessible to home cooks worldwide. Every recipe on this site reflects the way a dish is actually made — in homes and dhabas across Pakistan's five culinary regions — not a simplified or Westernised adaptation.
Recipe Research
Each recipe begins with primary research: regional cookbooks, food historians, and direct consultation with home cooks from the relevant region. We document regional variants and note where a recipe differs between, for example, a Lahori household and a Peshawar one.
We cross-reference multiple sources before publishing. A recipe is not added to the site if we cannot verify its regional authenticity from at least two independent sources.
Recipe Testing
Recipes are tested in a home kitchen environment — not a professional test kitchen — so that ingredient quantities, cooking times, and technique descriptions reflect real conditions for our readers. We note where results can vary based on stove type, pan material, or ingredient brand.
Authors and Expertise
Recipes are written and reviewed by contributors with direct cultural knowledge of the dishes they cover. Each recipe page credits the author and their regional background. Our contributors include home cooks, culinary historians, and Pakistani food writers.
No recipe is published without review by at least one person who has grown up eating or cooking that dish.
Cultural Accuracy
We treat cultural context as essential content, not decoration. Recipe intros explain the social occasion a dish belongs to, its regional history, and linguistic background (Urdu and regional language names with English equivalents). Fun facts are sourced and factually grounded — we do not publish culinary mythology as fact.
Nutritional Information
Nutritional estimates are calculated using standard food composition databases and are approximate. They assume standard ingredient brands and do not account for variations in cooking method. Nutritional data should not be used as the basis for medical or dietary decisions.
Updates and Corrections
Recipes are reviewed and updated when we receive credible feedback that a technique, ingredient, or cultural detail is inaccurate. The dateModified field in each recipe's metadata reflects the most recent update. If you spot an error, please contact us — we take corrections seriously.
Advertising Independence
Advertising revenue supports the site but has no influence over recipe selection, content, or ratings. Advertisers cannot request coverage or editorial favours. Affiliate links, where used, are disclosed on the relevant page.
