What This Site Is

Pakistani Recipes is an authoritative recipe database covering authentic Pakistani cooking across all five major regions — Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and South Punjab. Every recipe includes the regional origin, Pakistani ingredient names with English translations, step-by-step instructions, cultural context, and nutrition information.

We cover 342+ recipes across 122 dish families, with a 65-term cooking glossary explaining everything from garam masala to the dum cooking technique.

Why We Built This

Pakistani food is one of the most diverse and flavourful cuisines in the world — yet it's consistently misrepresented online, conflated with Indian food, or reduced to a handful of dishes. A Lahori breakfast is radically different from Sindhi dal pakwan. A Balochi sajji shares almost nothing with a KP chapli kebab. This site exists to honour that diversity.

Every recipe is documented with its regional identity, original Pakistani ingredient names, and the cultural context that makes it meaningful — not just a list of steps.

What "Authentic" Means Here

Authentic doesn't mean inflexible. It means we start from the real dish as it's cooked in Pakistan — not a Western adaptation — and then give you the context to adjust intelligently. We use Pakistani utensil names (karahi, tawa, patila) with English explanations, Pakistani spice names with substitutes where needed, and we never pretend a 20-minute shortcut produces the same result as a 12-hour nihari.
